Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

In many ways, Celaena is the female equivalent to Rothfuss's Kvothe - a beautiful, musical, magical, book-loving, clever, highly skilled assassin with a dog companion, tragic past, riding skills, special heritage and a knowledge of absolutely everything (I'm sure Maas will add sexual prowess later). Like Kvothe, Celaena's only flaw is her oversized ego and propensity to make people fall in love with her. Fun, but overdone.
