Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa
I loved reading this - it was a collection of my favourite Japanese (samurai) anime tropes combined with a really tight plot. People's characteristics, actions and motivations made complete sense because of their situations and the style combined a rich array of folklore and language. I genuinely can't wait for the next part!
Followed by Soul of the Sword and Night of the Dragon
