JE Sep'23 "Fresh, intriguing" [36]

 A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab

                                            

A really interesting setting, with good threat and exciting magic. The characters were a bit cliche, but I enjoyed the Doctor Who-esque vibes. The resolution did feel a bit too easy somehow, but I'm confident our main characters have made a catastrophic mistake which is about to come back to haunt them...

Side note: if you're writing about London (or any of the UK) do not use the word 'pants' to describe trousers. What a rookie error...
