The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jenson

I came across the word 'romantasy' in the reviews for this one and it's a pretty apt description. The setting was new (snake-infested jungles, complex trade economics, ancient architecture) but the vows of love and instant devotion were ridiculous - more daydream writing by a woman. Essentially everything revolves around the earth-shattering love between two insanely attractive people... (As in Kill the Queen, A Broken Blade, Song of the Marked and, to a lesser extent, Elvish) Remind me again why they both have to look 'perfect' naked? Is the author trying to fuel negative self-image?

Followed by a bunch of other books.
