Throne of the Fallen by Kerri Maniscalco
I didn't quite appreciate that this book verges on erotica! There was quite a clever plot buried beneath all the sex, but the execution was sloppy. Additionally, the characters' constant deception (particularly the secrets kept from the reader) and the faceless villain meant the final threat and payoff didn't land properly.
P.S. [mild spoiler] I'm seriously tired of 'normal' heroines turning out to be goddesses/fae/witches/immortal/elves/whatever.
