Soulbound by Bethany Adams
The story has very popular tropes - it's ahead of its time in some ways! - but falls down with plot and character development. There's also the rookie error of having too many people with similar names / titles: Lyr, Lynia, Lial, Layala (mother) and possibly another L for father... and the cast of characters wasn't even that big!
