The story didn't travel as far as I expected - both literally and plot-wise - but the characters are strong and I found the friendship between the two protagonists endearing. It's a great friends to lovers story set against the backdrop of injustice and discrimination. (The fight for equality is undermined by the true heritage of our heroine, though...)
