Rhapsodic by Laura Thalassa

I was dragged into this book. Though it's somewhat darker than I'm comfortable with, the characters' evolving relationship hooked me. The two timelines worked brilliantly (I don't think I've ever seen this device work this well!) I looked forward to each part of the story and enjoyed where it led me, despite the cliches - and the creepy edge was something new for this genre, I think.
Just ignore the age gap?
Followed by A Strange Hymn and Dark Harmony
Warning: violence, allusions to rape (including child rape), graphic sex, (present tense)
