I've read Ava Reid before, but I deeply underestimated how traumatic this book would be. It's like a fever dream and/or vivid nightmare with beauty pressed up against horror. I love the unique descriptions and comparisons she makes. However, the story is a deep dive into abuse so don't read this lightly! (See warnings below)

The Audiobook is beautifully read, but it makes you a (terrified) fly in amber until the tale has run its course.
