A Kingdom This Cursed and Empty by Stacia Stark
Very much a middle book - pieces are moved into place but not much else is accomplished. I can't even remember much of the action... And aside from sexual attraction, I can't really understand why our main characters love each other. Quite a few of the relationships aren't that believable and drama is always expressed as melodrama. Why cry when you can sob as if your heart is cracking in two? Pfft.
